RAT RACE

I spend my time
in lost and found
watchin rats
go round and round
in my glass revolving cell
east of Eden
west of Hell
I watch the rat race
hear them crazy sounds

In and out
the rats they dart
rats in neckties
lookin sharp
some go home
to Mrs. Rat
some are lunch
for alleycats
others sleep on benches in the park

Race around
on furry feet
watch for rat traps
in the street
dive for cover
bullets fly
then go home
and multiply
get your kicks
but try to be discreet

One rat happy
one rat blue
one rat looks
and laughs at you
senseless city
crazy race
nature never set this pace
through the mazes
through
and through
and through.
